These days everyone has a target to meet and a budget – whatever field you work in. Leadership is about focusing others on their goals and helping them achieve their objectives. There are a number of behaviours that can be coached (these can vary depending on your management style and personality) but those that should be included are: How to paint the big picture, vision and strategy; how to develop individual unit strategies, defining responsibilities and accountability, setting high (but realistic) goals, holding regular one-on-one meetings, giving informal performance feedback, developing staff, conducting effective meetings, resolving conflict and differences, and hiring strong subordinates.
